Half Ironman TrainingThe
challenge of a half Ironman triathlon means training for longer distances
and this gives us great scope for training sessions in the mountains.
Our local lake is great for getting in all important open
water swimming practice and we have a local swimming pool complex available
for sessions focussing more on distance and technique.
During a typical half Ironman week we will take in at
least a couple of the big climbs made famous by the Tour de France. The Col
de la Madeleine, the climb to the Courchevel altiport and the Cormet de
Roselende are just a few of the spectacular climbs within easy reach. These
will really help build stamina and after tackling this kind of terrain most
half ironman courses will seem like a walk in the park, well almost anyway!
There will also be a chance to train for distance with some shorter climbs
and longer distances on the flat.
Runs will be mainly on woodland trails and tracks on local
circuits to let clients work at their own pace with opportunities for
training a bit higher up in the mountains on roads and trails.
