Ironman Training.
For some people, like your host Hugh, the draw of Ironman triathlon is
too strong to pass up. As anyone who is training for Ironman will know, the
distances involved mean long hours of training and a high level of
motivation. Our Ironman weeks will push you as hard as you want to push
yourself in a stunning and spectacular setting.
After a long winter of cycle and run sessions in the dark,
the rain and cold or stuck inside on a turbo trainer a week or weekend of
Ironman training in the alps will give your training a well deserved boost
to help you reach your peak before tapering for the big race.
Open water swim sessions in the local lake are
complimented by sessions in a nearby swimming pool complex with indoor and
outdoor pools open during the summer.
The local terrain is second to none for Ironman training.
Rides will vary between long distances to get the miles under your belt land
shorter distances with spectacular thigh burning ascents. We have a
favourite 170 km loop over the Col du Tamie and around lake Annecy for
distance training. For lung busting to climbs to help build stamina the Col
du Petit St Bernard, the Col de la Madeleine and the Cormet de Roselende are
all in close proximity. You can push yourself to your limits knowing that
our support vehicle will stay close at hand with food and drink and the
option of stopping when you feel you have done enough for one day.
Runs will be in the woods around Bozel and in some of the
villages and valleys higher up in the mountains. There is plenty of scope
for long distances and we choose locations that allow clients to work at
their own pace as much as possible.
